The rat hole is an IT system that supports municipalities and public authorities in the administration of rat reports, supervision, control and reporting. The system centralizes all reports about rats and makes it possible to follow cases from start to finish. Users can manage notifications, record control activities, and ensure compliance with legal requirements by using data from various reports and notifications.

What is the Rat Hole?

The rat hole is a digital platform specially designed for authorities such as municipalities and the Danish Environmental Protection Agency to administer and monitor rat reports and control processes. Users can create and follow rat reviews, conduct inspection visits, and manage control companies responsible for rat control. The system is built to ensure that the municipalities can effectively register and follow up on rat problems, regardless of whether the control is carried out by public or private actors.

How can the Rat Hole help you?

For municipalities
The rat hole is a key tool for municipalities to manage rat reports and control. The municipalities can easily keep track of rat incidences within their borders, even when the control is carried out by private companies. The system provides an overview of ongoing cases and ensures that legal requirements are complied with. The rat hole is also used to keep track of rat reports that have not been completed within the statutory time frames. This helps them take the necessary steps to ensure effective control and follow-up.

For the Danish Environmental Protection Agency
The system also supports the Danish Environmental Protection Agency by providing access to statistics and reports on rat control throughout the country. The Danish EPA can use this data to evaluate the general efforts against rats and identify areas where further measures may be necessary. The Danish Environmental Protection Agency can draw reports from the Rat Hole to analyse which areas in the country have the most rat reports and assess where further focus should be placed on preventive measures.

The system integrates with other public IT solutions such as Danmarks Adresses Web API (DAWA), THE BBR register and the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration's smiley register, which makes it possible to automatically register property data in connection with rat reports. This facilitates the municipalities' work to collect and validate information about notified properties.
